This Cookie Policy explains how Marxel (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and application.

What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites function, remember your preferences, and understand how you use the site.
Similar technologies include pixels, local storage, and session storage.
How We Use Cookies
We use cookies for the following purposes:
Essential Cookies
These cookies are necessary for the website to function. They cannot be disabled.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | Keeps you logged in | Session |
| CSRF token | Security protection | Session |
| Cookie consent | Remembers your cookie preferences | 1 year |
Legal basis: Legitimate interest (necessary for website operation)
Anonymous aggregate analytics
On marketing pages, we use Google Analytics 4 in consent mode to measure aggregate page views, referrers, and conversion-intent link clicks. Before optional analytics cookies are accepted, analytics storage is denied and Google may receive cookieless measurement pings. If you accept analytics cookies, GA4 may use them for website analytics. Marketing measurement is not linked to an account or purchase, and you can opt out separately below.
Marketing Experiment and Preference Cookies
We use a first-party cookie to keep an opted-in visitor's homepage direction attached to a signup across the marketing and application subdomains. A separate preference cookie remembers when a visitor has opted out of anonymous marketing measurement. These cookies contain no CV content or personal identifiers.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| marxel_homepage_variant_v2_attribution | Keeps the homepage experiment variant available for anonymous signup attribution | 90 days |
| marxel_marketing_analytics_optout | Remembers the separate marketing analytics opt-out across our subdomains | 1 year |
Legal basis: Consent for experiment attribution; legitimate interest for remembering a privacy preference.
Analytics Cookies (Consent Required)
With your consent, we may use Google Analytics and PostHog to understand traffic patterns, product usage, service performance, and masked session replays. Google Analytics is also used on marketing pages in denied-storage consent mode for aggregate measurement before optional analytics cookies are accepted.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Distinguishes users | 2 years |
| _ga_* | Maintains session state | 2 years |
| _gid | Distinguishes users | 24 hours |
| _gat | Throttles request rate | 1 minute |
| ph_* | Product analytics, feature usage, and masked session replay | Provider configured duration |
Legal basis: Consent
Data collected:
- Pages visited
- Time spent on pages
- Features used
- Masked session replay interactions
- Browser and device type
- Approximate location (country/city)
- Referral source
Data sharing:
Analytics data may be processed by PostHog and Google when enabled with consent. See their privacy policies:

Your Choices
Cookie Consent Banner
When you first visit our site, you'll see a cookie consent banner. You can:
- Accept all cookies — Enables analytics services such as PostHog and Google Analytics where configured
- Reject non-essential cookies — Analytics cookies and product analytics are not enabled. Marketing pages may still use Google Analytics in denied-storage consent mode for aggregate page views and conversion-intent clicks; you can opt out separately.
Changing Your Preferences
You can change your cookie preferences at any time by:
- Clicking the cookie settings link in our website footer
- Clearing your browser cookies and revisiting the site
Browser Settings
You can also control cookies through your browser settings:
| Browser | Instructions |
|---|---|
| Chrome | Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies |
| Firefox | Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies |
| Safari | Preferences → Privacy → Cookies |
| Edge | Settings → Privacy → Cookies |
Note: Blocking all cookies may affect website functionality.
Do Not Track
Browser-level controls can limit or block cookies. The application analytics controls are based on the cookie consent choice shown on this site.
Server-Side Product Usage Records
When you are signed in, Marxel records limited first-party product events for service delivery, support, and improvement. This is separate from analytics cookies: it does not set or read optional analytics cookies, and the application remains usable when you reject them. The records contain event names, limited counts or status values, and internal job references—not CV content, email addresses, IP addresses, browser identifiers, or free-form text. Linked records are deleted when the account is deleted.
Third-Party Cookies
We use the following third-party services that may set cookies:
| Service | Purpose | Privacy Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe Inc. | Payment processing and subscription management | Stripe DPA |
| PostHog Inc. | Product analytics and masked session replay when enabled with consent | PostHog DPA |
| Google LLC | Google OAuth authentication and website analytics when enabled | Google API Services User Data Policy |
We do not control third-party cookies. Please refer to their privacy policies for more information.
Cookies We Do Not Use
We do not use:
- Advertising or targeting cookies
- Social media tracking cookies
- Cross-site tracking cookies
We do not sell data collected through cookies to third parties.
Data Retention
| Cookie Type | Retention |
|---|---|
| Essential | Session or up to 1 year |
| Marketing preference | 90 days for experiment attribution; up to 1 year for the opt-out preference |
| Analytics | Up to 2 years |
Analytics data is retained according to our provider settings and each provider's retention policies.
