Best Ashby Alternatives for UK Teams (2026)
UK comparison of Ashby alternatives — Teamtailor, Greenhouse, Pinpoint, Workable, Recruitee and Marxel — on pricing, data hosting, CV screening and fit.
Last reviewed: 17 October 2026. Pricing, data hosting and screening features were checked against each vendor's own pricing, security and help pages on that date (see Sources). Where a vendor doesn't publish a figure, we say "not published" rather than guess.
The short answer: Ashby is a strong all-in-one recruiting platform, but its published price starts at $400/month in US dollars, its security page doesn't name a hosting region, and its paid tiers above 100 employees are quote-only. UK teams looking elsewhere usually want one of three things. Teamtailor and Recruitee offer EU hosting and employer-branding-led hiring. Pinpoint offers UK and EU data centres with UK support. Workable and Greenhouse are established, broad ATSs. If your real problem is getting from hundreds of applications to a shortlist you can defend, look at Marxel, an ATS with built-in CV screening that can also connect to Ashby if you'd rather keep it.
Quick Verdict: Ashby Alternatives at a Glance
| Tool | Best for | Data hosting (as published) | Pricing (as published) | Screening features |

| Ashby | Data-led teams wanting ATS, CRM and analytics in one | AWS; region not stated on security page; SOC 2 Type 2 | Foundations $400/month (up to 100 employees) | AI-assisted application review against job criteria |
| Teamtailor | Employer-branding-led hiring with EU hosting | Choice of Europe (Ireland) or North America region; ISO 27001, SOC 2 | Not published (quote) | Co-pilot, opt-in, includes candidate screening |
| Greenhouse | Structured hiring at scale | AWS; region not stated on security page; ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type 2 | Not published (quote) | Talent Matching; does not reject candidates on its own |
| Pinpoint | UK teams wanting UK/EU data centres and UK support | Amsterdam, Dublin and London data centres; ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II | Not published (pricing request) | Opt-in AI criteria checklist, filters and match score |
| Workable | SMBs wanting a broad ATS with a public price | Hosted in the US; data may also be stored in the EEA; ISO 27001, SOC 2 | Standard from $299/month | Workable Agent; 3,000 free AI credits on paid accounts |
| Recruitee | European SMBs wanting EU-only hosting | EU only (Google Cloud Frankfurt and Berlin); ISO 27001 | Not published; one-year minimum contract | Screening Assistant on Advance and Optimize plans |
| Marxel | ATS with explainable CV screening built in | GDPR-conscious workflow; CVs not used for model training | Free / £50 / £120 per month | Best match band with must-haves met and CV evidence |
These tools overlap but aren't identical. Ashby, Greenhouse, Workable, Teamtailor, Pinpoint and Recruitee are full applicant tracking systems with screening as one feature among many. Marxel is also an ATS, but screening is where it goes deepest. The How to choose section helps you work out which you need.
Why UK Teams Look Beyond Ashby
Ashby is well regarded, particularly by data-minded teams that want recruiting, CRM, scheduling and analytics in one place. A few things still push UK buyers to compare:
1. Pricing is in dollars, and only the entry plan is public. Ashby's pricing page lists Foundations at $400/month for companies with up to 100 employees, with a 10% discount for annual commitments. Plus (101–1,000 employees) and Enterprise have no listed price: "Our pricing is based on company size, usage, and commitment." SSO is listed as an extra $100/month. For a UK team, a dollar price means the sterling cost moves with the exchange rate.
2. The hosting region isn't stated publicly. Ashby's security page says it runs on AWS and is SOC 2 Type 2 audited, but it doesn't name a hosting region or offer a regional choice. Its GDPR page says it signs a DPA as processor and relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension. That may be fine for you. UK teams that need data kept in the UK or EU should ask Ashby to confirm the region in writing.
3. It's a lot of platform for a small team. Ashby's strength is depth: analytics, scheduling, CRM and AI. If you hire a few roles a year, you may pay for capability you won't use.
4. AI screening has credit limits. Ashby's AI-assisted application review is included on all plans, but Foundations accounts get 1,500 AI credits a month across the account. High-volume teams should check that allowance against their application numbers.
If none of these applies to you, Ashby may still be the right choice. If one does, the alternatives below address it.
Tool-by-Tool: The Best Ashby Alternatives for UK Teams
Teamtailor — best for employer branding with EU hosting
Best for: UK and European SMBs that want a careers site and employer brand to do much of the hiring work.
Teamtailor is a Stockholm-headquartered ATS known for its careers-site builder and candidate experience. Its pricing page promises unlimited job postings and unlimited users, and it lists Teamtailor AI as included "with unlimited usage". Requisitions, approval flows and multi-brand management are Premium features.
Data hosting: Customers choose a data-processing region. Europe (Ireland, mainly AWS) is recommended for GDPR, and North America (Oregon) is the alternative. Teamtailor's Trust Center lists ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27701 and ISO/IEC 42001 certification, plus an annual SOC 2 Type 2 audit.
Pricing: Not published. The pricing page asks you to share company details and get a quote.
AI screening: Co-pilot, powered by OpenAI models, is opt-in. A company admin turns it on, then individual features are enabled. Features include candidate screening, resume summaries, candidate suggestions and discrimination detection in job ads.
Watch for: Quote-only pricing makes it hard to compare costs before a sales call. If branding isn't a priority, you may not use its biggest strength. See our Teamtailor alternatives guide for more.
Greenhouse — best for structured hiring at scale
Best for: Scaling companies and larger organisations that want structured interviews, scorecards and approvals.
Greenhouse is the closest like-for-like rival to Ashby's upper tiers. Its UK site says it's trusted by 7,500+ companies and serves early-stage, scaling and enterprise customers. Plans are Core, Plus and Pro.
Data hosting: Greenhouse's UK security page says it runs on AWS but doesn't name a hosting region. It lists ISO 27001:2022, ISO 27701:2019 and ISO 42001:2023 certification, annual SOC 1 Type 2 and SOC 2 Type 2 audits, and transfers under the EU-US DPF and its UK Extension.
Pricing: Not published. "Greenhouse pricing is customized based on your company's hiring needs."
AI screening: Talent Matching assigns match categories. Greenhouse states that it "does not automatically disposition any candidates nor does it make any hiring decisions".
Watch for: Greenhouse is built for process-heavy hiring, which can be more than a small UK team needs. If you're leaving Ashby to cut cost or complexity, Greenhouse is unlikely to fix that. See Greenhouse alternatives.
Pinpoint — best for UK data centres and UK support
Best for: UK organisations, including multi-site employers, that want UK or EU hosting and a UK support line.
Pinpoint is an ATS whose customers include UK brands such as Lush, River Island and Twinings. It lists a UK customer support number and positions itself for SMBs and enterprises with several hiring streams.
Data hosting: Pinpoint's security pages list data centres in Amsterdam, Dublin and London across AWS and Digital Ocean, and say it holds ISO 27001, ISO 42001 and SOC 2 Type II certification.
Pricing: Not published. You request pricing.
AI screening: Pinpoint offers an AI criteria checklist, AI candidate filters, an AI match score and an AI hiring copilot. Its AI policy says features are opt-in per customer, that "AI must never be the final decision-maker", and that customer data isn't used to train shared models.
Watch for: You can't compare its price with Ashby's public entry price until you've spoken to sales. See Pinpoint alternatives.
Workable — best broad ATS with a published price
Best for: SMBs that want an established ATS they can price without a sales call.
Workable says over 35,000 companies have used it, and it lists a London office alongside Boston and Athens.
Data hosting: Workable's privacy policy says its services are hosted and operated in the US, and data may be stored in the US and the EEA. Transfers use Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US DPF. Its security page lists ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27017, SOC 2 Type II and SOC 3.
Pricing: Published in US dollars. Standard is $299/month (or $3,588/year), Premier $599/month and Enterprise $719/month, both billed annually. Prices rise with headcount band, and the page shows no GBP pricing.
AI screening: Every paid account gets 3,000 free AI credits for Workable Agent. Screening a candidate with the Evaluate agent costs one credit, and more credits are sold in packs.
Watch for: It's another dollar-priced, US-hosted option, so it won't fix those two Ashby concerns. If you keep Workable, Marxel can connect to it. See Workable alternatives.
Recruitee — best for EU-only hosting
Best for: UK and European SMBs that want collaborative hiring and data kept in the EU.
Recruitee is part of Tellent, an Amsterdam-headquartered group with offices in Paris and Poznań. Plans are Start, Advance and Optimize.
Data hosting: Recruitee's help centre says it hosts data only in the EU, mainly on Google Cloud in Frankfurt and Berlin, with files and backups on AWS Frankfurt. Tellent's certificate covers ISO 27001.
Pricing: Not published. The pricing page shows plan names in euros without figures, says contracts need a one-year minimum (monthly payment is possible), and offers 20% off annual billing.
AI screening: The AI Screening Assistant comes with Advance (100 credits a month) and in full on Optimize. Start includes AI writing help for emails and feedback.
Watch for: The one-year minimum is a firmer commitment than Ashby's monthly option. Recruitee has no UK office listed. If you keep Recruitee, Marxel can connect to it. See Recruitee alternatives.
Marxel — best for explainable CV screening
Best for: UK teams whose bottleneck is reviewing applications, not interview logistics or analytics.
Marxel is an applicant tracking system with CV screening built in. You publish job listings, source candidates, manage applications and screen CVs in one workspace. Screening starts from your job description and briefing notes. Marxel turns them into weighted screening criteria, your team reviews them, and Marxel applies them to every CV.
Each candidate gets a Best match band (Strong, Good, Partial or Low) showing which must-haves were met and the CV evidence behind them, with reasoning and a match/miss breakdown. Marxel also flags vague or risky criteria before screening and suggests follow-up questions where a CV leaves gaps. The hiring decision stays with your team.
You don't have to leave Ashby to use it. Teams that keep Ashby as their system of record can connect Ashby to Marxel. Marxel brings applications in for screening and can add a screening note to the Ashby candidate. Marxel also connects to Recruitee, Workable and Breezy HR. Read how the Ashby connection works.
Data handling: Built around GDPR-conscious workflows, with human review of criteria before screening, explainable results and candidate-data controls. Customer CVs are not used for model training. See our GDPR-compliant CV screening guide.
Pricing: Published in GBP. Free (200 CV screens/month), Standard £50/month (1,000 CV screens), Plus £120/month (3,000 CV screens, up to 5 team members) and Business on custom pricing. Every plan includes unlimited active Screening Jobs, and screening allowances are shared across the organisation.
Watch for: Marxel doesn't multipost jobs to job boards or sync with Google or Outlook calendars. Ashby, Greenhouse, Workable, Teamtailor, Pinpoint and Recruitee offer more interview-scheduling and analytics depth. If those matter most, choose one of them, and consider connecting Marxel for screening.
How to Choose: Switch ATS, or Fix Screening?
Work out which problem you're actually solving before you shortlist.
"We want a cheaper or simpler ATS"
If Ashby is more platform than you need, compare published prices first. Workable publishes its plans, and Marxel publishes GBP plans with a free tier. Teamtailor, Pinpoint and Recruitee are quote-only, so get a written quote before you compare.
"We need UK or EU data hosting"
Pick a vendor that names its region. Pinpoint lists London, Dublin and Amsterdam data centres. Teamtailor lets you choose a Europe (Ireland) region. Recruitee hosts only in the EU. Whichever you choose, get the region and DPA in writing.
"We want structured, enterprise-grade hiring"
Greenhouse is the obvious comparison with Ashby's Plus and Enterprise tiers. Expect a quote and a longer implementation.
"We're buried in applications"
Switching ATS won't fix this on its own. Marxel applies reviewed criteria to every CV and shows the evidence for each Best match. Because it connects to Ashby, you can test it on one role without migrating.
Want to try it on a live role? Sign up free and check current plan allowances before you start.
Migration Considerations
- Export before you cancel. Pull candidate records, CVs, notes and historical pipeline data out of Ashby, and confirm what your new ATS can import.
- Check contract terms. Ashby offers monthly or annual terms on Foundations. Recruitee has a one-year minimum. Teamtailor, Greenhouse and Pinpoint are quote-based, so ask about term length up front.
- Update GDPR paperwork. A new processor means a new DPA, updated records of processing and a review of retention settings. Confirm the hosting region in writing at the same time.
- Start with screening if volume is the problem. You can connect Marxel to Ashby and change how you screen without moving your pipeline.
FAQ
How much does Ashby cost in the UK?
Ashby publishes one price: Foundations at $400/month for companies with up to 100 employees, with 10% off for annual commitments. It doesn't publish a GBP price, and Plus and Enterprise are quoted on company size, usage and commitment. Ask for any quote in writing and check what's included, such as SSO (listed at $100/month) and AI credits.
Does Ashby host data in the UK or EU?
Ashby's security page says it runs on AWS but doesn't name a hosting region. Its GDPR page says it signs DPAs and relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension for transfers. If you need UK or EU hosting, ask Ashby to confirm the region in writing. Pinpoint (London, Dublin, Amsterdam), Teamtailor (Europe region option) and Recruitee (EU only) all publish their hosting locations.
What's the best Ashby alternative for a small UK business?
If you want a price you can see before talking to sales, Workable publishes US-dollar plans and Marxel publishes GBP plans with a free tier. If UK or EU data hosting matters most, look at Pinpoint or Recruitee.
Does Ashby have AI CV screening?
Yes. Ashby's AI-assisted application review checks applications against job criteria (meets, does not meet or undecided) and shows its reasoning. It's opt-in, included on all plans and limited by monthly or yearly AI credits.
Can I use Marxel alongside Ashby?
Yes. Teams that keep Ashby can connect it to Marxel. Applications come into Marxel for screening, recruiters review the Best match and CV evidence, and Marxel can add a screening note to the Ashby candidate. Ashby stays the source of truth for stages and hiring decisions.
